Navajo Social Services contacts us when they need temporary care for children in crisis situations. While we do not accept any tribal, federal or state funding, we have established a working relationship with Navajo Social Services - as well as an endorsement from them - to provide temporary, emergency care for children in dangerous situations.

We are prepared to accept children on a moment's notice. A full-time houseparent is available to care for the child. We provide clean clothes, food and shelter while the family situation is evaluated by Navajo Social Services.

In the event long-term care is necessary, placement in the Extended Care Homes is an option for the child. Whatever the outcome of the crisis, we are here to give the children a place of hope.

The children placed here often come with only the clothing they are wearing. They are frightened and scared. Each "Kids in Crisis" child receives a small, cuddly lamb toy to keep. This lamb gives the child something to call his or her own, and we remind them that they are children of the Gentle Shepherd, Jesus Christ. If you would like to make lambs for this program, please type "lambs" in the Other Ministries blank on the Giving Support form.

Your monthly gift of $25 provides financial support for an entire family. Sponsors are sent a picture and biographical information regarding the family and are encouraged to build a relationship through cards and letters.

A picture and biographical information of the houseparent family along with your monthly receipt letter contains updates on family activities so that you will be better able to pray for their needs. Please contact us directly for more information, because the children placed here are from Navajo Social Services names cannot be released.
